Founded in 1918, the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) is the most established, most extensive community mental health organization in Canada. Through a presence in more than 330 communities across every province and territory, CMHA provides advocacy, programs, and resources that help to prevent mental health problems and illnesses, support recovery and resilience, and enable all Canadians to flourish and thrive.
Our vision:
Mentally healthy people in a healthy society.
Our mission:
As a locally-based champion for mental health, CMHA-CVB facilitates access to the resources people require to maintain and improve mental health and community integration, build resilience, and support recovery from mental illness and addiction.
The Cowichan Valley Branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association is on the front lines working with adult and youth community members suffering the effects of homelessness and substance misuse. At this time, the need in the community is great. All donations directly support local programs.
We are a Registered Charitable Organization with the Canada Revenue Agency:
- Registration # 13990 5772 RR001
Date of Registration: 1992-01-20
Our organization is also an Incorporated Society:
- Registration # S-28576

Making a donation in memory of or in tribute to a friend or family member is a meaningful way to let others know you care. You can honour someone on a special occasion such as a birthday or anniversary, and show them you care about the issues of mental health.
Commitment to excellence
CMHA BC is accredited through Imagine Canada’s national Standards Program. The Standards Program awards accreditation to charities and nonprofits that demonstrate excellence in five fundamental areas: board governance; financial accountability and transparency; fundraising; staff management; and volunteer involvement.
